The World Series of Poker is a series of poker tournaments that are held at Harrah's Rio Casino in Las Vegas. WSOP tradition has been around since 1970 and has expanded each year to the function of several events with almost all varieties of poker that you could imagine. At the end of several weeks of small tournaments they hold the main event which is a $ 10,000 in the tournament. This year it is expected to attract over 8,000 players and the winner will receive over $ 10,000,000.
In each of these events and the price of money the winner receives a gold bracelet as a trophy for winning an event. So someone could win the $ 50,000 HORSE event $ 1.500 Seven Card Stud, and then the main event and walk away with a lot of money and three bracelets.
The bracelets are a big problem since the WSOP is considered to include some of the best players in the world. Poker legends like Doyle Brunson and Johnny Chan who both won the Main Event twice, each has earned a world record 10 bracelets throughout their careers. To own one is a very prestigious achievement fundamentally separates poker enthusiasts of world class professional.
The WSOP has also developed since Harrah's bought the rights to the competition. They now have a series of events that take place throughout the country known as the circuit events. These events tend to specialize in Hold'em poker variations others. The winner receives a leg of the tour price and a ring of WSOP. Although not as prestigious as the bracelet, they are still coveted.
