Blackjack Poker Basics The basic game is that you want to have a hand value that is closer to 21 than the Dealer without exceeding 21. The other players at the table are not of concern. Your hand is strictly played against the dealer's hand. The rules for the dealer are strictly dictated, leaving no room for decisions of the concessionaire. Therefore, it is not a problem with the dealer or other players at the table seeing the cards in your hand. Face In fact, if you play a game of shoes, the players' cards are dealt to all. In any event, when you are just learning to play, do not hesitate to show the dealer or other players your cards and ask questions.
Card values
In blackjack, the cards are valued as follows:
An Ace can count as 1 or 11, as shown below.
Cards 2 through 9 are valued as indicated.
The 10, Jack, Queen, and King are all valued at 10.
The combinations of cards have no meaning in the game the value of a hand is simply the sum of point counts of each card in hand. For example, a hand containing (5,7,9) has the value of 21. Aces may be considered 1 or 11. You do not need to specify the value of the Ace a. It is supposed to always have the value that makes the best hand. To illustrate: Suppose you have the beginning hand (Ace, 6). This hand can be 7 or 17. If you stop there, it will be 17. Suppose you draw another card in hand and now (Ace, 6, 3). Your total hand is now 20, counting the Ace 11. Let's go back and think that you had instead drawn a third card is an 8. The hand is now (Ace, 6, 8) which totals 15. Note that now the Ace must be regarded as only 1 to avoid going over 21.
A hand containing an Ace is called "soft" total if the Ace can be considered 1 or 11 without the total going over 21. For example (Ace, 6) is a soft 17. The description comes from the fact that the player can always draw another card for a total soft, with no danger of "brilliant" by going over 21. The hand (Ace, 6,10), the other is a "hard" 17, since the Ace must now be regarded as only 1, again because it would account for only 11 to hand over 21 years.
The agreement maps
Once all the facts are Paris, the dealer deals cards to players. It will make two passes around the table from its left (right) for the players and the dealer have two cards each. (European and Australian players: See exception at the bottom of this section.) The dealer turns one card over, exposing its value.
In shoe games, the player cards will be processed up, and players are not allowed to touch the cards. If you are a beginner, you might want to begin the game boots you do not have to worry about handling the cards.
In the handheld games, the player's cards are dealt face down, and players choose the cards. When handling the cards in a deck hand, here are some important points to remember.
You are only allowed to touch the cards with one hand. If you're a poker player, this may take some effort to break old habits!
You must put the cards on the table.
All the cards that the dealer then holds your hand must be left on the table, not added to the cards in your hand.
Once the cards are dealt, play proceeds around the table, starting with the first seat left of the dealer, also called first base. Each player in turn, indicates the dealer how he wants to play the hand. The various player decisions are covered in their own section below. After each player has finished his hand, the dealer completes his hand, and then pay or glue.
