The War of the Roses



"Once in his life is a movie that makes you want to fall in love again. It is not that movie." The slogan says it all about this 1989 comedy starring Michael Douglas, Kathleen Turner and Danny DeVito. In this thriller, a married couple try everything to get each other of dirty house in a divorce.



High Fidelity



This movie is everything you need: comedy, drama, music, and romance. With a cast of John Cusack, Iben Hjejle, Todd Louiso and Jack Black, the group tells the story of a record store owner when he returns to his "Top 5" breaks.



First Wives Club



This film was made for the ladies. Comedy ensues when three divorced women, played by Bette Midler, Goldie Hawn and Diane Keaton, recovery plot on you husbands who left them for younger women.



How Stella Got Her Groove Back



With Angela Bassett, Taye Diggs and Whoopi Goldberg, this dramatic romance live up to its slogan, "Sometimes you break the rules to free your heart." So the moral of this film may have been forgotten, viewers can drool on the Jamaican Island scenes and Diggs, of course.



Bridget Jones's Diary



Renee Zellweger tells the story of many single women in this romantic comedy, as she seeks love in a year where she keeps a diary.



Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind



This film is more dramatic than romantic, but more importantly, it is unique. Jim Carrey and Kate Winslet star as a couple who underwent a procedure to erase each other from their memories after their break. An interesting variation is found in the lessons they remember.



Under the Tuscan Sun



During your vacation, a recently divorced writer buys a Tuscan village in the hope that it will be the beginning of a change for a better life. Diane Lane, Sandra Oh and star in this comedy romance drama that was nominated for a Golden Globe.



The Way We Were



This dramatic romance of the 70s with Barbra Streisand and Robert Redford tells the tale of two lovers involved in a wonderful romance, but their political point of view between them.



Casablanca



This film celebrates 40 years with Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman deals with a date "with destiny." Set in the early days of the Second World War, an American expatriate meets a former flame, which creates complications.



Pride and Prejudice



Based on a novel by Jane Austen, this comedy drama is based on the wedding day coveted. When the Bennets try to find a suitable husband for their five unmarried daughters, pride and prejudice complicate relations.



The Break-Up



After a break between a couple played by Chicago Jennifer Aniston and Vince Vaughn, the quarrel is when they try to decide who will keep their condo. Comedy ensues when each party tries to force the others.


Hopefully some of these films has shown your interest and can sit and help your next Ben and Jerry's. While these films can help mend a broken heart for the short term, they are just the beginning. After all, you probably have a series of films comforting to watch when you need a pick-me-up.
