Gambling Debt Help gambling debt? I racked up about 27k in credit card debt due to Paris online sports during the past year. The problem is that I have no money to pay for it. I'm just a university student 19 years old and looking back on it .. I do not know what the hell I was doing. I realize that I have a problem and quit for good, but what do I do? If I confess to the credit card company what will happen? Technically speaking, it is illegal for them to fund online gambling sites but the websites disguise it buys. I actually, when they used to call me about the deposits that I did, I told them I was a sports site paris and they never said anything about it. Can I use to my advantage. My credit is decent enough at present about 722 .. ... but I'm assuming it will tank. I thought to take a private student loan and pay off my cards. Should I hire a lawyer? Any help, advice is greatly appreciated. By all means, talk to a lawyer. Most lawyers will give you a free consultation. Do not talk to the credit card company before consulting a lawyer. If you have a problem with the game, do not hesitate to ask for help with this. If I were you, I cut the credit cards. If you end up having to declare bankruptcy your credit will tank, yes, but the good news is that you are shaking 19 years - you have plenty of time to build it back up responsibly. My advice would be to contact a credit counseling agency. Your credit shell for a while, but it seems that it will quickly plunge soon anyway. They will help you pay your credit cards by making a monthly payment. Investigate a company debt settlement. All a lawyer will go bankrupt is recommended, which would be stupid to only 27K. get a lawyer I agree with these people you should talk to a lawyer, but I doubt it would do much good.
