The very name of this festival Deepavali 'suggests the meaning of this festival. It is the light from a small diya that is called "deep" in Hindi. Later, the term 'Deepawali' became 'Divali'. Deepawali or Diwali is also known as "the festival of lights", because to date, there is light and light everywhere. Diwali is celebrated usually during October or November.

Importance Diwali

Diwali is the Indian festival that brings a series of festivals with it. One after another we have the chance to celebrate five festivals together. People of all age groups and classes with the same zeal and enthusiasm celebrate Diwali in India. They put on new apparels and participate in various activities that are related to Diwali celebrations.

Diwali is not only a festival of celebrations such as lightings, crackers, cleanliness, colorful rangoli making, social gatherings to exchange greetings and sharing sweets with your loved ones, but also a festival that is filled with spirituality and religious activities such as worship of Goddess Lakshmi, worship of Lord Ganesha, worship of Mother Kali, worship of the Lord and worship of Govardhan Parvat Chitragupta. The festival of Diwali is all about lots of shopping, happiness, friendliness and almost a week of vacation.

The celebration of the feast of five days long, Diwali begins on Aswayuja Bahula Chaturdashi and concludes on Kartika Shudha Vijaya. The first day of this festival begins with 'Dhan Trayodashi' or 'Dhanteras. After the Dhanvantari Trayodashi the second day of Diwali is "Narak Chaturdashi", which is popular as' Chhote Diwali. The third day of Diwali, also called Badi Diwali is the main day of celebrations of Diwali. People make Lakshmi Pujan (worship of the divine Goddess Lakshmi) on this day and offer prayers for her to bless them with wealth and prosperity. On the fourth day of Diwali is devoted to Govardhan Pooja (worship of Lord Govardhan Parvat). On the fifth day of Diwali is Bhai Dooj, the time to honor the brother-sister.

The day of Diwali has special significance for the business community as they consider this day to be the perfect time to begin their new fiscal year. Some people also speculate on the day of Diwali, as it is believed that a wife of Shiva, Goddess Parvati played dice with him that day and therefore those who play on this day, the luck and prosperity.
