I disagree with ZCT on it. I read both, and I found that the information in the book of Caro has helped me more than Helmuth. Do not get me wrong, this chapter Read em and Reap pacifying gesture helped me tremendously. But in terms of general trends that I found the book more useful Caro. It's just for me, I'm sure there is a personal aspect of this.
Example: I played a home game, and has requested an increase with KQo min. The flop rainbow AK2, Raiser checked, I bet, he pushed all in. and then leaned on his chair, trying to stare at me. Remember Caro words that I called and he flipped over QT.
Read both, and use information in both to help you. There is gold in the two books.
I agree and Caro book is perhaps a classic but it's a must for the players face to face and is still valid. Doyle's stuff is always a good read although a lot of it is outdated, but Caro stuff is not and probably will never.
The key with recounts is learning to observe and if you do not get that in a book and it is skill that you must always work.

Caro is really something you have read because it is a piece of history. It is one of those classic books that all poker players should read. As Super System.
But in all fairness, it is much more obsolete today. The men sitting around drinking whiskey and smoking cigars. Sweeping generalizations about women and blacks. It is just old.
Read em and Reap is more up to date, and has a surprising idea by a retired FBI guy. If I had to pick one, what would it be, no contest.
