A beginners guide to Poker Jargon Poker has its own distinctive language, like so many other activities, surf the net to surf the perfect wave. But do not be afraid, it is not a conspiracy against you, the newcomer in the game, it is simply a consequence of the popularity and longevity of the game of poker in his infinite variety. What follows is a guide for those of you who are new to the game in online play and need more understanding of communication at once, while activity in the game and poker rooms and forums.
First some things the most obvious. Probably the most popular game is Texas Holdem. It may be a limit, pot-limit and no limit game. From 2 to 10 players can participate in a session of Texas Holdem. The person who deals the cards is called the dealership, its position at the table is marked by a "button" and can be called "the button". Do not confuse with the representative dealer casino that distributes cards to players, but never participates in the game
At the rear of the machine are two players who make paris blindly. Only the limits of the table takes the lid on their paris. They can not bet on the limit of the particular table. The first blind bet is half of the table limit and called the small blind, only the second player places a bet for full table limit, the big blind. So if the table limit $ 2 / $ 4, the small blind will be $ 2 and the big blind for $ 4. We often see abbreviations that designate the position of the player. SB stands for small blind and BB means the big blind. Of course, this seems too easy and it is. SB may also mean small bet and big bet BB, having nothing to do with shade. Be aware of this and to distinguish between them in the course of play.
The small blind player is always the first to take the plunge. His position is considered the first position, while the button (the dealer) is the last position. The third player, one immediately after the big blind is in the position to start and is said to be under the gun "or UTG. The two positions are "positions at the beginning and are abbreviated by UTG and UTG + 1 + 2.
The next three players represent the middle position: MP1, MP2 and MP3. The new "late" includes the player's position just before the button - called the threshold or CO - and finally the player hits himself.
These are terms of position for a Texas Holdem player ten. In a game less than ten players, some positions will be missing.
With that out of the way, lets start playing. The first step is the pre-flop, where each player receives two hole cards. The next steps in the game are designated as the streets and the flop, the turn (fourth street) and the river (fifth street). While this happens, the cards are laid on the table (AKA, the board). These cards are known as the streets concerned, the first three cards of the flop, then a turn and a river card. The flop cards of different colors are seen as a rainbow.
That should be enough to get you started on the poker table. You can and should continue to learn the jargon of poker so that you will not be caught off guard by something someone said at the table.
